St Luke Heart Institute's mission is to provide personalized, high-quality care on an as-needed or preventative basis.  We have created a practice that we believe in and really sets apart from another local cardiology clinic. We are independently owned but have affiliations with all of the local hospitals (Brooksville, Oak Hill, Spring Hill Hospitals). We accept most insurances. We are accepting new patients! 

Dr. Thomas Mathews, MD, FACC has been in Hernando Country for over twenty years! He earned his M.D. at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He later finished Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Medical College of Pennsylvania. He then pursued general cardiology fellowship at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia. After that, he completed Interventional Cardiology fellowship at Hahnemann University Hospital as well.

He is joined with his son, Adithya Thomas Mathews who is trained physician in internal medicine, cardiology, and interventional cardiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American College of Physicians. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at University of South Florida, cardiology fellowship at Florida Atlantic University, and interventional cardiology fellowship at Sidney Kimmel Thomas Jefferson University at Deborah Heart and Lung. He is trained in endovascular and structural cardiology interventions including atherectomy, PFO closure, TAVR and Watchman. He is also board certified in cardiac CT and nuclear cardiology. He is accepting new patients at St Luke Heart Institute. 

His wife Dolly has background in nursing and works as the office manager. They have two sons. Adithya Mathews is part of the practice as an interventional cardiologist. His younger son Akshay is currently in medical school and doing clinical rotations in Tampa Bay.

We have a full staff with nurses, technicians, and secretaries.
